The wiki guide serves as a resource to provide useful information for TurfWiki content creators and editors. Several tools, tips and tricks are supplied as well as current praxis for editing on the wiki.

Editing praxis

It can initially be overwhelming to start editing the content on TurfWiki, but the lines of wiki code and unusual concepts are nothing to be afraid of. We have all been there who have contributed to the wiki, do not let this get in the way of your invaluable knowledge that TurfWiki needs! Dare to make big changes and experiment, it is always possible to correct things afterwards if needed. Hopefully, this article can help you get started with content creation and guide you in creating everything from high quality articles to simpler edits.

Good to know

  • Creating links (external link) to other pages on TurfWiki by keyword. This makes it easy to share relevant content for the what you create.
  • Categorize (external link) new articles that you create, and it will be easier to find them. You will find help for categorizing, for example, zone articles later in this article, under "Geography".
  • Dare to improve content! It is perceived as a good deed to edit and improve other people's content on the wiki.
  • Ask for help! If you get stuck, leave a Turf Wiki Issue via Issues page or write in the discussion page of another user for example Gor talk or Ojarnstr talk.

Body text

Names

In general, names associated with the game are written in italic text, such as Turf and Warded. Player names lack practice at the moment and can be written in both italic and plain text, depending on the context. In an introduction, for example, the name is written in bold, italic text, while in the body text, the name can be written according to the rules for names in the English language. Names of cities, countries, municipalities and regions follow the rules for names in the English language.

Game concepts

Game concepts that appear for the first time in a new, introductory context (eg guides) are usually written in italic text and linked if it is a central concept for the game. Concepts are then written as usual in the main body of the text.

A general rule of thumb can be to write in italic if something needs to be clarified.

In cases where the meaning of the term should not necessarily be clarified, but where it occurs for the first time, the term is linked but written in normal text. The term is then printed as usual the remaining times it is used in the body text.

Example: To win in Turf the player needs to do takeovers. A takeover is a central part of Turf that means that a player stands in a certain marked area, a zone, for a short time until the game shows that the zone is taken. This zone is now owned by the player and will generate points for that player.
