Qvidja
Qvidja [kviddja] (Finnish Kuitia) is a village and a castle in Pargas in the province province of Varsinais-Suomi. One of the earliest owners was the bishop of Turku, Magnus II Tavast. Later, the estate was inhabited by, among others, Erik Joakimsson Fleming and Clas Eriksson Fleming. The castle is one of the few privately owned medieval castles in Finland.
The current stone building is the remains of a defense tower from the end of the 15th century whose upper floors were later removed. The castle is said to have been besieged by Duke Charles (later Charles IX of Sweden) during his conquest of Finland and confiscated by him, but was returned in 1608 to Clas Fleming's widow Ebba Stenbock.
