Täby is a municipality in the region of Stockholm in Sweden. The municipality has about 73,000 inhabitants and is located in its entirety in the province Uppland.

Location[edit]

The municipality is located in the southeastern part of the province Uppland with Stora Värtan and the Baltic Sea in the east. Adjacent municipalities are, in the east Österåker, in the southeast Vaxholm, in the south Danderyd, in the west Sollentuna and Upplands Väsby and in the north Vallentuna, all in Stockholm County.

Urban areas[edit]

Central town is Täby. The southern and central part of the municipality has been part of the urban area of Stockholm since 2015. This is separated by a rural area from the similarly cross-municipal urban area Vallentuna, the southern part of which consists of Täby kyrkby. From 2015, an area within the municipal part of Arninge has been defined as an urban area with 295 inhabitants. This is due to ongoing housing development.
