A Zone Worthy of a Detour – by recycling
The BrahällaRuin zone is located in Tranås municipality by Lake Noen, west of Tranås.
Brahälla Castle was built around 1680 as a hunting lodge for Count Per Brahe the Younger. The castle was abandoned early on and fell into disrepair. A couple of restorations have been carried out over the years.
You can find the zone via road 133 and road F998 and then take a gravel road to a barely noticeable parking lot. From there, there is a 1.5 km long path to the castle that is partly overgrown. Parts of the route can be wet and muddy.
Thank you recycling for your contribution! If you have your own special zone you'd like to tell the Turf World about, send a paragraph or two about it to insider@turfgame.com and let the Turf community learn more about it!
On the same theme, far far away zones are the next story.
Three FTT:s in Mexico – by HaileGåBraSe and ReadySteadyGå
Turfers HaileGåBraSe and ReadySteadyGå spent a week in Mexico in the beginning of April. We were there mainly for sightseeing but for obvious reasons we also wanted to Turf a little.
Although there are very few tourist zones in Mexico, turfers can still get their fill thanks to the country being richly blessed with world heritage sites, 36 in total. During our travels we visited five different sites listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List and in doing so we also managed to take no less than three FTTs.
Zone: ElTajín
El Tajín was the center of a large city that flourished from around 600 to 1200 CET. The site today consists of a large number of well restored pyramids and temples. The site El Tajin is far lesser known than some other similar sites in that part of the world, such as Tikal and Chichén Itzá. But we have over the years visited all three of them, and can safely say that El Tajin is just as interesting and beautiful as the two others.
Zone: Acueducto
South of the city Pachuca the Aqueduct of Padre Tembleque, a water distribution system built in the 16th century, can be visited. The total length of the aqueduct is around 45 kilometres and the turf zone is placed next to its most spectacular section, namely where it crosses a valley and rests on slender and almost impossibly high stone arches.
Zone: JardinJuárez
The Zone JardinJuárez was yet another FTT on this trip. We passed this zone on our way to the world heritage site Xochimilco. Xochimilco is a vast network of canals and islands which for hundreds of years served as a transport system in the region. It was also there the farms producing food for the people who lived in the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan were located.
Join Discord, the new Turf Forum
More and more turfers are finding their way to Discord, the new Turf Forum, but also so much more. So far 297 turfers have joined and 75 have linked their account to the Turf app by writing those five digit codes in one of the chats. This is a way to confirm the account as being a "true" turfer ie user of the Turf app. You can join the Turf Discord through Turf's homepage or directly by using THIS link.
Editor's Opinion
During April we have experienced several episodes of downtime with the Turf servers. Frustrating, I know, especially if you are out and about trying to take unique zones or fighting for a better placement in your league or just trying to take your Daily-5. Extra frustrating with no forewarning, but that is because the developers did not think the changes would cause downtime.
The downtime lately is due to changes related to the server structure, both the issue web and the Turf Wiki have been moved and hopefully it will work better, and faster now. This will probably not be the last downtime we will experience, because there is a lot going on in many areas of Turf as far as development of the app and its surrounding support pages. Yes, it is frustrating with downtime, but the improvements are worth it :) Any system needs maintenance to work well.
The new beta for iPhone has not had many bug reports, so a new version has been released to a store near you. The iPhone and Android app should be more on par with each other now. Since I am an Android turfer, I don't know how true this is. It is up to you all to compare notes with each other when you are out and about!
Remember to keep reporting bugs via the issue system! It is important that glitches in the application is reported, so they can be looked at and hopefully resolved.
