The Ultimate Region Fight 2025
9 Regions/countries battled it out during September in three categories. Results can be found HERE. Västmanland was ahead from week 1 and it was no real surprise they won the Region Fight 2025. The battle for second and third place was more interesting. After two weeks, it looked like Norrbotten and Skåne would be fighting about Silver and Bronze. However, neither team did very well during week 3, so by week 4, Norrbotten was fighting NW England for Silver. It was all decided during the last few days and it was Norrbotten that took Silver and NW England took Bronze. Only Region Västmanland has sent in a piece about the Region fight (see below).
Regionskamp POV Västmanland
Every year, Västmanland looks forward to the Turf Ultimate Region Fight. Then we, normally turfing individualists, have the opportunity to be part of a team. Our motto during this period is: The team before the individual (Laget före jaget). Västmanland won two years ago but were beaten by Norrbotten last year. So now we wanted revenge — the goal was clear: to be number one! Most of our team members have participated in several region fights, so we know this competition demands a huge effort from everyone, a strong team strategy, and quick reactions to movements from other teams. We started every week at the highest possible pace.
With this, we managed to take an early lead in all categories, a lead we were able to maintain through both the first and second week. However, early Sunday morning in week three, NW England suddenly increased their turfing efforts significantly and challenged us on points. This required a huge and immediate response. Several of our team members jumped out of bed and onto their bikes — and we were able to match the English attack.
After the exciting and exhausting Sunday morning, week four went fairly normally — until the end of the week. Norrbotten made a great push on Saturday and continued through the night into Sunday. But once again, we were able to match their effort and secure the victory. The Västmanland team is very proud that we managed to win all three categories, every week, and of course the overall competition.
On top of that, our teammate Turfink — thanks to an extremely impressive performance — managed to win the Gold medal for this round.
There are several reasons why we succeeded so well. One is our strong team spirit. Although the competition is very demanding, we try to have fun at the same time. Now and then, we turf together in groups (both in our hometowns and in nearby areas), we loop when needed, we communicate well, and we support and encourage each other.
Another reason is the composition of our team. We have members who turf during the day, and others who ride in the evenings or late at night. The strength of our team also shows in the fact that our "red line" was set at 20 turfers, but we had 33 different turfers who contributed in at least one category during at least one week. Thank you MaXi and Laynus for organizing this competition.
We’d also like to thank our competitors for a great fight.
We’re looking forward to next year’s battle, and we hope even more regions will join this challenging but fun team event!
A Zone Worthy of a Detour
Turf Insider is introducing a new section of the newsletter. Tell us about a special zone, that is a bit (or a lot!) out of the way, but definitely worth those extra miles. First out is Kingslayer with HolgerZone.
”Located off the E6 motorway outside Landskrona between Helsingborg and Malmö this zone is on a hill with burial mounds from the bronze age. But it is the magnificent view of Öresund that makes it special. On a clear day you can see from Helsingborg in the north to the Öresund bridge in the south.
Despite being only 7-8 minutes away from the motorway it’s a peaceful rural place perfect for a picnic. Legend has it Holger Danske is resting in one of the mounds, ready to come to Denmark’s aid in times of crisis. Holger Danske is the Danish equivalent of the Swedish Moder Svea. Legend also has it he is resting under Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, so it’s hard to know where he is. But should it be at HolgerZone and Denmark needs him, I say ”Good luck getting through the modern border control without a biometric ID, Holger!”

So which zone were you happy to make a detour for? Write a few sentences about it and send to insider@turfgame.com]
Beta testing iPhone version
Beta testing a new iPhone version of the Turf app is done! Turf Crew wants to thank every turfer who has downloaded the beta version and daring to try it out. The developers are extremely happy to announce the first iOS update in quite a while! Maybe not that much you will notice as a user, but a lot is updated under the hood and this forms the foundation to continue to build on. One things you will notice, is the disappearance of the black box in photos taken with the in-app camera (yay!).
