SummanTaistel[edit]

The monument to the battle of Summa is a sculpture by Jussi Vikainen in Turku between Kupittaankatu and Itäinen Pitkäkatu in the Kupittaa park. The work is made of red granite, a stone for which Vikainen's birthplace Vehmaa is famous. The monument was unveiled in 1965 and erected by the Summa Association of Southwest Finland to commemorate the battles of the Winter War (1939–40).

The sculpture depicts both the destruction caused by the bombing of artillery and the hope represented by the intact granite columns.

Vikainen is known above all for his hero tombs and statues scattered all over Southwest Finland. In terms of design, he represents realism, although abstract features can be seen in the sculptures.
