Bonanza 2019 - 18th of May in Stockholm[redigera]

Welcome to the capital of Sweden and compete by foot or bike in the lovely royal Djurgården area! The registration period has ended, but you are welcome to come and socialize. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet fellow turfers from everywhere. The competitions end with a festive dinner party, the Bonanza Banquet. All information about all of this and more can be found at:http://nyheter.turf08.se

Turf Crew will hand over the Turf Awards to the winners during the Bonanza Banquet in Stockholm on May 18, 2019.

If you want your public event featured in Turf Insider, write to: insider@turfgame.com preferably at least two months in advance and add a web page if possible. After the event it is always fun to read a paragraph about it (winners, weather, funny episodes) and remember that a picture is always worth more than a 1000 words.

A new Turf Association is born[redigera]

On Saturday 4th of May the turfers of Västerbotten formed a new Turf Association, Turf Västerbotten. Over 20 turfers attended the meeting and discussed future plans together. Read more about Sweden's newest Turf ”club” at [www.turfvasterbotten.wordpress.com www.turfvasterbotten.wordpress.com]. In June, Midnight Classic will be organized for the sixth time in Umeå, read all about it here. Don't miss to go north for this special event which takes place over two days, from 11 pm on Saturday to 1 am on Sunday. As the organizers put it: "The sun goes down 22.5010.50 pm on the 8th of June and it goes up at 2.23 am on the 9th of June. If the weather is good, it won't get dark at all."

Summer Turf Adventure[redigera]

A young turfer, 18 in June, from Uppsala is planning a summer Turf adventure extra-ordinaire: to bike (and turf) from his home in Uppsala, Sweden to his grandma's summer cottage in Rovaniemi, Finland during July. He has a solid plan (read more in his own words here), but is lacking travel mates. He'd like someone to bike with most of the way. If you have some time off in July, take the oppertunity to join Kygni in his summer adventure :) Contact him privately here: kygni610@gmail.com or add him on Discord (username: Kygni#6840). Kygni will be at the Bonanza in Stockholm and would love to talk to other turfers interested in joining his adventure.

For those of us who don't have time or energy to bike from Uppsala to Rovaniemi this summer, there are smaller adventures to look forward to. Maybe it's time to take all the zones in your county or region. Find someone to assist turf with during the lovely summer evenings and upgrade your Assist Medal. Make a zone ”fetlila” on your warded-map. (”Fetlila”/"Fat purple" is an expression coined by Praktikus some years ago and refers to when a turfer has more than 1000 takes on a zone, as can be seen at warded) Organize a picnic with fellow turfers in a zone and send the picture to insider@turfgame.com or just enjoy your daily Turf session by foot, bike or any other way you like!

Turf Meetings[redigera]

Turf Insider have recieved two mails about Turf Meetings. First from the turfers of Turku, Finland:

”Greetings from Turku, Finland.

A group of Turfers met up in the sunshine in the park Kuppis/Kupittaa in Åbo/Turku. Just in time to take some group turfs before the end of the round, and some in the new round.

We are happy that our group is steadily growing. Wishing everyone a happy Turf-summer.

The second mail came from Turf Göteborg: ”Turf Göteborg (a local group for turfers in and around Gothenburg) organised a field trip for its members last Saturday. We where 18 members that joined toghether and drove the two hours to the spit (rev in swedish hence the zonename) in Vänern to take the zone HindensRev (https://turfgame.com/map/HindensRev). The zone is situated at the tip of the spit, almost 4 km walk from the parking lot. The walk is easy, mostly gravel and no climbing. After taking the zone, we drove to a nearby beach (which by a weird coincidence had a zone :) ) for a picnic, with grilled hot dogs and cookies and coffee.

After a couple of hours on the beach we drove back to Gothenburg. In the evening some of us joined up with some turfers from Örebro whom had "invaded" Gothenburg that weekend for an evening full of turf stories and a lot of laughs.

This was clearly a day in the essence of Turf, Outdoor addiction and socialising! Thank you Turf for making this possible.”
