Brazil (Portuguese: Brasil), officially the Federative Republic of Brazil (Portuguese: República Federativa do Brasil), is a country in eastern South America which has about 210 million inhabitants.
The capital is Brasília while São Paulo is the largest city. Other major cities are Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Recife.
The country extends over an area located between central South America and the Atlantic Ocean and borders Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana (France), ie all South American countries except Chile and Ecuador.
