Germany (German: Deutschland), officially the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Bundesrepublik Deutschland), is a country at the intersection of Central and Western Europe with 83 million inhabitants.
It borders with Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Germany is divided into 16 regions that compares to the federal states (Bundesländer) that makes up Germany.
The regions are in turn divided into 189 municipalities that are based on the districts (Landkreise) that the states or "länder" are divided into.
