Borlänge is a municipality in the region of Dalarna in Sweden. The municipality has about 52,500 inhabitants and is located in the province Dalarna.

In a west-east direction, the Dal River (Swedish: Dalälven) flows through the municipality.

Location[edit]

The municipality is located in the southeastern parts of the province Dalarna. Adjacent municipalities are Säter in the southeast, Ludvika in the west, Gagnef in the northwest, Leksand in the north and Falun in the northeast, all in Dalarna County.

Urban areas[edit]

The urban area of Borlänge is the largest with approximately 43,200 inhabitants and constitutes the municipality's central town.

Other urban areas in the municipality are: Halvarsgårdarna, Idkerberget, Norr Amsberg, Ornäs, Repbäcken, Romme and Torsång.
