Fagersta is a municipality in the region of Västmanland in Sweden. The municipality has approximately 13,000 inhabitants and is located in its entirety in the province of Västmanland.

Location[edit]

The municipality is located in the Bergslagen ore region and neighboring municipalities are Norberg in the north, Sala in the east, Surahammar in the southeast, Skinnskatteberg in the southwest and Smedjebacken in the region of Dalarna in the west.

Urban areas[edit]

There are two urban areas in the municipality: Fagersta which is the municipality's central town and Hedkärra.

Engelsberg Ironworks[edit]

Outside the village of Ängelsberg in the eastern part of the municipality, there is the historic facility Engelsbergs Ironworks which constitutes a world heritage site. There is the zone AngelsIron.

The most taken zone is FagerStation which is located at Fagersta Central Station.
