Gloucestershire is a county and in turf a municipality in the region of South West England in the United Kingdom. The municipality has about 820,000 inhabitants and is located in the northeastern part of the region.

Turf includes the entire county, except for the unitary authority South Gloucestershire, in the municipality.

Gloucestershire borders Monmouthshire in the region of Wales in the northwest, Herefordshire and Worcestershire in the north and Warwickshire in the northeast, all in the region of West Midlands, Oxfordshire in the region of South East England in the east, and in the region of South West England Wiltshire (with Swindon) in the south and South Gloucestershire in the southwest.

The capital is Gloucester, among other cities are Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud and Tewkesbury.
