Helsinki (Helsingfors) is a municipality (city) in the region of Etelä-Suomi (Southern Finland) in Finland. The Greater Helsinki area has over 1,5 miljon inhabitants and within the city limits lives 653 835 people. The city is located in the province of Uusimaa.

Helsinki is the capital of Finland it is also the largest city of Finland and political, economical and cultural center.

Location[edit]

Helsinki is located by Gulf of Finland and creates the Greater Helsinki area together with Espoo (Esbo), Kauniainen (Grankulla) and Vantaa (Vanda), which together have over 1.1 million inhabitants.
