Uppsala is a municipality in the region of Uppsala in Sweden. The municipality has approximately 234,300 inhabitants and is located in its entirety in the province of Uppland.

The municipality is Sweden's 4th most populous municipality and the central town Uppsala is the country's fourth largest urban area (2020).

Location[edit]

Uppsala municipality is located in the central parts of the province Uppland and borders the municipalities Knivsta and Håbo in the south, Enköping in the southwest, Heby in the west and Tierp and Östhammar in the north, all in Uppsala län, and Norrtälje in Stockholms län in the east.

The municipality's central town and largest urban area is Uppsala, which is also the city of residence for Uppsala län.

Other urban areas in the municipality are, Almunge, Björklinge, Blackstalund, Bälinge, Denmark, Gunsta, Gåvsta, Järlåsa, Knutby, Lindbacken, Läby, Länna, Lövstalöt, Ramstalund, Skyttorp, Skölsta, Storvreta, Vattholma, Vreta-Ytternäs and Vänge.
