Region

A region in Turf is the main geographical subdivision of a country. A region often corresponds to the counties or similar in the countries where Turf is officially available. In countries where Turf is not yet available, the whole country is normally considered a single region. Please observe that the country medals and region medals can not be received in the countries where Turf is not yet available. The table below lists the countries that are divided into regions.

Country Number of regions Corresponds
Denmark 5 Regions
Finland 7 Regions (regional administrative agency)
Germany 16 Federal States
Iceland 2
Japan 8 Regions
Netherlands 12 Provinces
Norway 5 Parts of the country
South Korea 15 Provinces and cities
Sweden 21 County (Swedish Län)
United Kingdom 12 National parts and Regions
USA 51 States and Federal District

In Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany, the regions are in turn further divided into municipalities.

Home region and chat region

A player's home region is the region in which the player has taken the most zones during the round. Home region should not be confused with chat region, which changes as soon as the player takes a zone in a new region. The chat region determines which local chat is displayed in the chat window.

Country medals

In all countries where Turf is officially available, except Iceland, there is an Explorer medal awarded to a turfer that has taken at least one zone in each region of the country. The medal for taking a zone in each of the 12 regions of the United Kingdom is the UK Explorer:

Toplist and the Region medal

A turfer belongs to the region in which he/she has done the most takeovers in the current round. The turfer that accumulates most points in a region in a round receives the Region medal. This applies to all regions where there are at least five turfers active during the current round and he/she also belongs to the region when the round ends. The medal is awarded in all countries that are divided into regions. It is not awarded in countries that make up a region as a whole.
