Gelderland is one of twelve regions in the Netherlands. The region includes the province of the same name and has about two million inhabitants.
The province's capital is Arnhem while the largest city is Nijmegen. Other major cities are Apeldoorn, Ede and Zutphen.
Adjacent regions are Limburg and Noord-Brabant (North Brabant) in the south, Zuid-Holland (South Holland) and Utrecht in the west, Flevoland in the northwest, Overijssel in the northeast and Nordrhein-Westfalen (in Germany) in the east.
