Round Winners

Congrats to the winner of round 118: Király from Skåne won his 12th gold, M0112 from Åland added another silver medal to his collection and Mattet from Västerbotten biked home his first Bronze.
Well done mates!

Turf Events

Since travelling is currently discouraged in Sweden, Events are mainly an affair for the local turfers. Events take place outdoors and social distancing is easier to accomplish, so few regional events have taken place. Turf Stockholm held an Open By Foot event named Judarn 20 with 54 participants in April. There was no gathering before the event and everyone was encouraged to bring their own snacks and keep their distance during the prize ceremony.

Bonanza 2020 moved!

Due to the Corona pandemic, Bonanza 2020 has been moved to August 29. It will still be held in Örebro :)

Registration is open! All info can be found here. The voting for Turf Awards 2019 has been concluded and the winners will be announced at the Bonanza banquet, which we all hope can be held in August.

Upcoming potential Turf Events include GbgOpen2020 on the 6th of June. Turf Göteborg will decide this upcoming weekend if the event will take place or not and in which format. Keep yourself updated here. In Umeå VbMidnightC20 is scheduled to take place on the 27th of June, hopefully more information will soon be posted on Turf Västerbotten's homepage.

If you want your public event featured in Turf insider, write to: insider@turfgame.com preferably at least two months in advance and add a web page if possible. After the event it is always fun to read a paragraph about it (winners, weather, funny episodes) and remember that a picture is always worth more than a 1000 words.

I personally think Turf is a perfect activity in these Covid-19 times. It takes you out of the house, makes you move and gives some social contact via the app with other people. Since it takes place outside, it is easy to keep your distance if you do happen to meet up with another turfer.

In April many regular Turf get-togethers were cancelled, but in May and June turfers in different parts of Sweden have decided to move the monthly get-togethers outdoors, and not just to the outdoor area of the normal pub or restaurant, but to a barbecue spot in a nice forest or by a lake. This is a great compromise in keeping with the guide lines in social distancing and yet being able to see your fellow turfers. Remember to stay home if you are feeling the slightest bit ill!

Turf Missions

For those that get tired of taking the same zones over and over again back and forth to work, school or some other place, there's the Turf Missions, created and organised by SunYour. There are 56 different missions where zones should be taken in a certain order. Some cities have two missions and others only one. The city has to be big enough to have a mission, since a mission with only 20-50 zones is fairly pointless and you'd be able to finish it in one evening ;) Some cities have also been graced with the ”Flipper”, a mission where you are told to take all zones in a certain area of the city, before you can 'flip' onwards to the next area. All this can be found at: https://frut.zundin.se/mission_list.php

Frut.zundin also has plenty of interesting statistics for those so inclined, like Round Unique, User Stats and Zone Stats. For those of you that enjoy "Theory Turf" (digging deep into the statistics of the game in the comfort of your own couch) more than real Turf, I am sure this site can help you waste many hours with a happy smile on your face :)

Tip Of The Month

Subscribe to issues in your home region (and any other region you have an interest in) at https://issues.turfgame.com/subscriptions

This will keep you updated with changes in zones you know and love, and you can add your own two cents to issues other turfers have with these zones. You can also contribute yourself by reporting any not-so-well-placed zone, and more or less swift action will be taken depending on the issue with the zone!

I leave you this time with a picture of my cat Serafina walking away from me in a recently visited zone in Ockelbo. Happy exploring!

The picture is missing, feel free to upload it if you have it
