  • Car turfing - When a car is used as a means of transportation when playing Turf. This is ineffective in dense city areas but can save one a lot of time when zones a far between each other. Some turfers consider carturfing to be somewhat cheating.
  • Block (verb) - A player blocks another player when taking a zone before an other player intends to take the same zone. This means that the second player cannot take the intended zone due to block time being applied after the take.
  • Block time - The time duration of which a zone is not available to take for other players. This is applied immediately after a zone take.
  • Bonanza - A major event in Turf that serves as a standalone round in which the contesters capture zones unique to the event in a much denser fashion than a regular round of Turf.
  • Bike turfing - When a bicycle is used as a means of transportation during a Turf game session. Bicycles are considered one of the most effective and versatile option for a Turf player. What a bicycle lacks in speed compared to a car, it excels in flexibility and mobility.
  • Guest turfing - See "tourist turfing".
  • Jog turfing - When a player jogs between Turf zones.
  • Lazyturfer - Turf players which go by the philosophy "Highest gain with least effort". An example of this is car turfing without taking full consideration of traffic rules.
  • Night turfing - When a player is turfing at night.
  • Snoozer - Person som inte tar nya zoner men får många PPH från redan tagna zoner.


  • Round - A time period between 4 or 5 weeks makes up a Turf round. At each new round a winner is found, all zones are made neutral and all scores are reset.
  • PPT - poäng per tagning (Average Points Per Take).
  • Pro mode - Inställning som inte laddar kartan i bakgrunden på applikationen. Används för att spara batteri och datatrafik när man redan vet var zonerna ligger.
  • Race - När spelare tävlar mot varandra om att ta en eller flera zoner.
  • Rank - The player's level in the game, calculated by total points received. Effects takeover time when taking a zone.
  • Regionlord - The region lord is the player currently holding most zones within a region and is awarded a crown during that time. Takeover time is cut by five seconds.
  • Slöturfa - Att passa på att ta zoner för att man har vägarna förbi.
  • Spontanturfa - Att ta en/flera zoner när man har vägarna förbi.
  • Spökturfa - Att stänga av GPS:en i Turf-appen medan man förflyttar sig mellan zoner.
  • Turistturfa - Att besöka en stad eller region för att ta nya unika zoner.
  • Turfing - The act of playing turf.
  • Turfer - A person who plays Turf.
  • Turfblogging - Blogging about Turf.
  • Turfblogger - Someone who has a blog related to Turf.
  • Turf-bonanza - En kort och intensiv turftävling med kort blocktid, många zoner och många spelare.
  • Turffordon - Det fordon en person använder vid turfande.
  • Turfninja - Someone who has taken the Dark Ninja medal.
  • Turfträff - En sammankomst med personer som turfar.
  • Turfturist - Person som turistturfar.
  • Zone - The physical area in which a player has to stand in order to receive points.
  • Turfänka/Turfänkling - Person som blir ensam hemma när dennes respektive är ute och turfar.
  • Turföl - Några turfare träffas och tar en öl.
  • Takeover time - A player's takeover time is the number of seconds he/she has to stand inside a zone in order to take it.
  • Unika (verb) - Att ta nya unika zoner. Vanligt vid turistturfning. Exempel: Jag är ute och unikar.
  • Unika - Zoner man inte tagit tidigare. Exempel: Jag tog några unika.
  • Winner zone - At the end of each round the player with the highest score is awarded a zone.
  • Zonemaker - Volunteer creating new zones in Turf and maintaining existing zones.
