Water zones are turfzones that are placed on a non-shallow body of water at least 15 meters from shore, and outside any busy or dangerous areas.

There are 490 water zones in the world and most are in Sweden (303) followed by the United Kingdom (42) and Finland (32).

The most taken water zone is Nydalabadet, located in the municipality of Umeå in the region of Västerbotten in Sweden.
