Placement
This zone is placed by the Bad Bad Boy sculpture in the Jätkäsaari district in central Helsinki.
Bad Bad Boy
Bad Bad Boy is a pink concrete sculpture by the sculptor Tommi Toija that shows a naked, urinating boy. The work is eight and a half meters high and weighs seven and a half tons. The sculpture's water circulation is heated, so the boy can also pee in the cold. The sculpture of shotcrete on a steel frame was made in Sweden.
The work was originally commissioned for the Art in Public Spaces art event in Örebro, Sweden, in the summer of 2013. There, Bad Bad Boy urinated in a river in a park near Örebro Castle.
In August 2014, Bad Bad Boy was installed at the Helsinki Market Square, where it urinated in the sea in front of Stora Enso's headquarters and the Presidential Palace. At the time, it was part of Tommi Toija's exhibition at the Amos Rex Art Museum during the Helsinki Festival. It became one of the most photographed places in Helsinki.
In February 2015, the work was placed on Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, on the Pacific Square in front of Verkkokauppa.com.
