Placement[edit]

This zone is placed by the Solf church in the village of Solf south of the city of Vaasa.

Solf's Church[edit]

Solf's church, also called Holy Trinity church.

The first church in Solf was built in 1626, when the congregation belonged to Malax's pastorate. It was quite small and was first called a house of prayer. Gradually, Solf became a chapel congregation under Malax with its own priest in the village. Towards the end of the 18th century, the population had grown so that the church became too small, and when it had also become worn out, the need for a new church was obvious.

The commission to draw it went to Johan Elfström, who was active in the construction of the Court of Appeal in Old Vaasa (today Korsholm's church). He has also drawn the churches in Replot and Pörtom, all unusual and beautiful in all their simplicity. At this time, the law required the churches to be built of stone due to many church fires, but a dispensation was granted due to difficulties in obtaining building materials. Solf church was consecrated on Trinity Sunday in 1786, hence the name above, which is however rarely used.
