Groningen is a city and a municipality in the region of Groningen in the Netherlands. The municipality has about 233,000 inhabitants and is the seventh largest city in the Netherlands.
The city is the capital of the province Groningen. Groningen is a university city with about 40,000 students. There is a college and a university.
