Kittilä (in northern Sami Gihttel) is a municipality in the region of Lappi (Lapland) in Finland. The municipality has about 6 400 inhabitants and is located in the historical province of Lapland.

Kittilä has an international airport, Kittilä Airport, where tourists who holiday in the ski resort Levi mainly fly.

Finland's lowest temperature, -51.5 ° C, was measured in the village of Pokka in Kittilä on 28 January 1999.

Location[edit]

Kittilä municipality is located in the northwestern part of Finland.

Bordering municipalities are Inari in the northeast, Enontekiö in the northwest, Kolari in the vest, Muonio in the west, Rovaniemi in the south, and Sodankylä in the east.

Urban Areas[edit]

The administrative centre is Kittilä church village with 2 226 inhabitants, other urban areas are Sirkka, Rova, and Kaukonen.
