Kreis Paderborn is a municipality in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in Germany. The municipality has about 296,000 inhabitants and is located in the eastern part of the region.

Location[edit]

Nearby districts / municipalities are Gütersloh and Lippe in the north, Kreis Höxter in the east, Hochsauerland in the south and Soest in the west, all in the region Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Urban areas[edit]

The largest city in the district is the district capital Paderborn with about 150,000 inhabitants.

Other major cities are: Bad Lippspringe, Bad Wünnenberg, Büren, Delbrück, Lichtenau, Salzkotten.
