Leicester is a city and a municipality in the region of East Midlands in the United Kingdom. The municipality has about 330,000 inhabitants and is located in the western part of the region.

Location[edit]

Leicester is a unitary authority in Leicestershire, located on the River Soar, about 140 kilometers northwest of the capital London.

The municipality is surrounded by the municipality of Leicestershire.
