The Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside (in turf North Tyneside) is a municipality in the region of North East England in United Kingdom. The municipality has about 208,000 inhabitants and is located in its entirety in the county of Tyne and Wear.

Location[edit]

The municipality is located in the northeast England about 400 kilometers north of London.

North Tyneside is bordered by Newcastle upon Tyne to the west, the North Sea to the east, the River Tyne to the south and Northumberland to the north.

Urban areas[edit]

Within its bounds are the towns of Wallsend, North Shields, Killingworth and Whitley Bay, which form a continuously built-up area contiguous with Newcastle.
