Gävleborg is one of 21 regions in Sweden. The region has about 288,000 inhabitants and includes the provinces Gästrikland (apart from a small part of Söderfors parish) and Hälsingland (except Ytterhogdals and Ängersjö parishes). Gävleborgs County also includes a small part of Dalarna, Hammer parish (Orsa finnmark]) in Ljusdal's municipality.
It borders to the regions of Uppsala in the southeast, Västmanland in the southwest, Dalarna in West, Jämtland in the northwest and Västernorrland in the north.
The capital is Gävle.
