Kalmar is one of 21 regions in Sweden. The region corresponds to the county with the same name. The Turf region also covers the large island of Öland.
Adjacent regions are Blekinge in the south, Kronoberg and Jönköping in the west and Östergötland in the north.
The urban area of Kalmar is the largest city with approximately 40,000 inhabitants and is the city of residence in Kalmar County.
