Södermanland is one of 21 regions in Sweden. The region includes the western and southern parts of the province Södermanland as well as smaller parts of the provinces Närke and Uppland.
Adjacent regions are Östergötland in the southwest, Örebro in the west, Västmanland in the northwest, Uppsala (through Lake Mälaren) in the northeast and Stockholm in the east.
The province Södermanland comprises most of the region as well as the southern part of the region Stockholm and a smaller part of the region Västmanland.
