Text replacement - "Sweden" to "Sweden"
There has been a chapel in Dragsfjärd since "ancient times". This chapel was however so badly damaged that it was demolished and replaced with a new church building in 1695 called Drage chapel. During the 18th century, the chapel became too small and a new church building was planned.
Dragsfjärd's current church was built by Anders Piimänen and inaugurated in 1755. It was named Adolf's church after the then king [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Frederick,_King_of_Sweden Adolf Fredrik] of [[Country:Sweden|Sweden]].
The cruciform church was originally painted red but has been repainted several times. The church received its current yellow color during the renovation in 1973.
