Vähäsilta is a turfzone in the Municipality of Turku in the region of Lounais-Suomi (Southwestern Finland) in Finland. The zone is located in the province of Varsinais-Suomi and is counted as a bridge zone.

Placement[edit]

The zone is placed on a bridge that crosses river "Pattistenjoki" near where runs out to the Aura river. This is Koroistenniemi an ancient monument area.

Koroistenniemi[edit]

In the 13th century, Finland's oldest ecclesiastical and temporal administrative centre – the Bishop's see – was located in Koroistenniemi. There was probably a trading site or settlement in the area even before then. Over the centuries, the headland has been used as a cemetery, a field and for pasture. It is now used for outdoor recreation and by various local religious groups as a site for ecumenical events. Stone footings are all that remain of the structures that stood on the site at the time of the Bishop's Residence.
