Schleswig-Holstein is a region in northern Germany. The region encompasses the bundesland with the same name and has about three million inhabitants.
Bordering regions are Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the east, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) and Hamburg in the south and Syddanmark (Southern Denmark) in Denmark in the north.
