Busan or Pusan (hangul: 부산, hanja: 釜山) is one of 15 regions in South Korea. The region is a city with status as a province with about 3.6 million inhabitants.
The city is located on the southeast coast. It is the country's main port, also one of the world's largest. Busan is the country's second largest city. It is one of the country's administrative cities with a status that is independent of the provinces.
Adjacent regions are Gyeongsangnam in the northwest and Ulsan in the northeast.
