Jävrefyren is a turfzone in the municipality of Piteå in the region of Norrbotten in Sweden.
Placering[edit]
This zone is placed by Jävre Lighthouse in the village of Jävre, south of Piteå town center on border to the region of Västerbotten.
The Lighthouse in Jävre[edit]
One of Sweden's oldest lighthouses is in Jävre. It is Skag's lighthouse that originally stood on the island Gråklubben at Skagsudde outside of Örnsköldsvik and was in operation between the years 1871 and 1957. Since it was replaced by the current lighthouse at Skagsudde, it was instead erected in Jävre as a memory of the lighthouse building era at Sandholmen. For just over 20 years, the Swedish Maritime Administration built caisson lighthouses there. When the lighthouses were to be launched at Sandholmen, people gathered in the thousands to watch. There were large surges when the concrete colossuses went into the sea.
The old Heidenstam lighthouse from Skag / Gråklubben's lighthouse site was dismantled and packed away before this one was rebuilt as an excursion destination at the E4's rest area. It was rededicated in 1971 on its 100th birthday.
