Built in the French Renaissance style 1873–1875 by Tönnes Wrangel von Brehmer after drawings by [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helgo_Zettervall Helgo Zettervall]. The building was renovated in the 1990s. The castle has a gourmet restaurant and a hotel.
In [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_I_of_Denmark Queen Margaret's] time, Häckeberga was inhabited by the gunsmith Eske Brock. It later belonged to the Hak family until 1528, when it passed through marriage to the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulfstand Ulfstand] family, who owned the castle until 1652. Holger Gregersen Ulfstand had a stately castle built in 1530, equipped with two strong corner towers, a ring wall and a drawbridge. It was burned down in 1678 during the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scanian_War Scanian War], but remained partially modernized until the middle of the 19th century.
Since the 1720s, Häckeberga belonged to the Silfverskiöld family, but was sold in the 1820s to Anders Wollmar. Through his daughter it came to Baron Carl Gustaf Wrangel von Brehmer. His great-granddaughter Dorothea, married to Sten Tham, took over Häckeberga in 1940. The castle is today owned by their grandson Wilhelm Tham. After a fire in 1960, the castle got a copper roof. Nowadays it is run as a hotel, restaurant and conference facility by Anna and Lars Norrman.
In 2006, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackmyra_Whisky Mackmyra Swedish Whiskey] established a whiskey warehouse at Häckeberga Castle.
