Rhein-Sieg-Kreis is a Kreis (district) which in Turf is a municipality in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in Germany. The municipality (district) has about 580,000 inhabitants and is located in the southwestern part of the region.

Rhein-Sieg-Kreis is an administrative district in southern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, belonging to the Regierungsbezirk Köln (Cologne).

Location[edit]

The Rhein-Sieg-Kreis almost completely surrounds the city of Bonn, which is not part of the district. Parts of the district are included in the Bergisches Land area.

Adjacent municipalities (district) are Kreis Euskirchen in the west, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Köln (Cologne) and Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis in the north and Oberbergischer Kreis in the east, all in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia), Altenkirchen, Neuwied and Ahrweiler in the south, in the region Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate).

Cities[edit]

The largest city is Troisdorf, while Siegburg is the administrative capital.

Other major cities are: Bad Honnef, Bornheim, Hennef (Sieg), Königswinter, Lohmar , Meckenheim, Niederkassel, Rheinbach and Sankt Augustin.

The most taken zone is Lessenicher located at the intersection Lessenicher Weg - Dransdorfer Strasse just outside Gielsdorf.
