'''Pargas or Parainen''' is a small town in the [[region]] of [[Lounais-Suomi]] (Southwestern Finland) in [[Finland]]. The town has about 15000 inhabitant and is part of the county [[Varsinais-Suomi]]. It was created on January 1, 2009 when the municipalities of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pargas_(former_municipality) Pargas], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagu Nagu], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korpo Korpo], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houtsk%C3%A4r Houtskär] and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ini%C3%B6 Iniö] were merged into a single municipality. The municipality has a population of 15,225 (31 January 2019) and covers an area of 5,548.17 square kilometres (2,142.16 sq mi) of which 4,666.46 km2 (1,801.73 sq mi) is water. The population density is 17.27 inhabitants per square kilometre (44.7/sq mi). The town is bilingual with a majority (57.6%) speaking Swedish as their native language.
