A supporter is a turfer who has donated money to the Turf-project and hence been given extra functions in the game. A supporter is often shown in the game with a flash decal.
Origin[edit]
Because Turf is free to download and does not contain any ads, the project's success and development depended on voluntary donations and in some cases corporate sponsorships. The solution to cover overheads was initially to donate money directly to the project via the website (and thus as a player received the now rare donation medals), but this has since November 2013 been replaced by the supporter function.
Features[edit]
Supporters are granted access to the following extra features in the game:
- Wardrobe - assigns the player his own personal wardrobe where the player can customize the appearance of his avatar.
- League game - more in-depth overview of the leagues and players' placements in the groups.
- Statistics - The opportunity to see number of regions visited, total number of takeovers, number of assisted takeovers, round statistics, session statistics, experience points, total turf distance and more.
- Show unique zones - a counter for the number of unique zones taken.
- Assign supporter days - feature that allows a supporter to donate supporter days to another player.
Most of the extra functions can be found in the app under the supporter icon 
in the Main menue, but can also be accessed via homepage (assign supporter days) and Warded (show unique zones).
Donation medals[edit]
These medals were previously awarded to donators (the medals stopped being awarded in 2015 and can thus no longer be obtained):
Donation Hero (was awarded to the players who donated 10 € or more to the Turf project )
Donation Angel (was awarded to the players who donated 50 € or more to the Turf project)
Donation God (was awarded to the players who donated 100 € or more to the Turf project)
The amount donated was accumulated in such a way that the amount stated to receive a specific donation medal referred to the total amount donated by the player. It was thus possible to obtain the highest medal by making several donations over time.
