It is possible that the name was created for marketing purposes for [[Linköping]], but there is something in the name as well. Flight school was started at [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malmen_Airbase Malmen Airbase] as early as 1912 (one of [[Country: Sweden|Sweden's]] first). [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96stg%C3%B6ta_Wing Östgöta Wing] (nowadays there is only one helicopter flotilla).

Both the development and manufacture of aircraft are located in Linköping.
