SibeliusZone is a turfzone in the municipality of Helsinki in the region of Etelä-Suomi (Southern Finland) in Finland. The zone is located in province of Uusimaa and is counted as a monument zone.
Placement
This zone is placed by the Sibelius Monument in the Sibelius Park in the district of Töölö in Helsinki city center.
Sibelius Monument
The Sibelius Monument (Finnish: Sibelius-monumentti; Swedish: Sibeliusmonumentet) by Eila Hiltunen is dedicated to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865–1957). The monument is located at the Sibelius Park (Finnish: Sibeliuspuisto; Swedish: Sibeliusparken) in the district of Töölö in Helsinki, the capital city of Finland and was unveiled on September 7, 1967.
The sculpture consists of more than 600 stainless steel pipes, which are welded together in a wave pattern. It weighs 24 tons and measures 8.5 × 10.5 × 6.5 meters.
A smaller version can be found at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris. Another similar work by Eila Hiltunen can be found at the UN headquarters in New York.
