Rytterknægten[edit]

Rytterknægten is a hill on the island of Bornholm in Denmark. It is located in the middle of Almindingen, and with its 162 meters above sea level is Bornholm's highest natural point.

At the top is the so-called Kongemindet, a 12.6 meter high granite tower, which was built in memory of King Frederik VII and Countess Danner's visit to the island in 1851. It was designed by the architect Gottlieb Bindesbøll and built in 1856 with collected funds. The mile-long view from Kongemindet was later obscured by the forest and in 1899 the architect's son, Thorvald Bindesbøll, designed a 9 meter high iron tower that was erected on top of Kongemindet.
