Farfarsbron is a turfzone in the municipality of Helsinki in the region of Etelä-Suomi (Southern Finland) in Finland. The zone is located in the province of Uusimaa and is counted as a bridge zone.
Placement
This zone is placed on the bridge "Isoisänsilta (Farfarsbron)" that connects Helsinki center with the island Mustikkamaa.
Isoisänsilta
Isoisänsilta (english: grandfather's bridge) is a light traffic bridge that leads from Helsinki district Kalasatama ("Fishing port") to Mustikkamaa, that was opened in 2016. It is named after Isoisänniemi (Grandfather Peninsula) in Mustikkamaa (Blueberry Country). The name Isoisänniemi (Grandfather Peninsula) comes from the fisherman Viktor Wilhelm Wickman who lived there, his heirs named the peninsula after him.
In 2017, the Finnish Association of Civil Engineers chose Isoisänsilta as the 'Bridge of the Year'.
