MorupsFyr is a turfzone in the municipality of Falkenberg in the region of Halland in Sweden. The zone is located in the province of Halland.
Placement[edit]
This zone is placed in the nature reserve of Morups Tånge by the Morup Lighthouse, south of the village of Glommen.
Morup Lighthouse[edit]
The area has been known to be difficult to sail in for over a hundred years, about twenty ships were wrecked on the reef outside the seaweed. Therefore, they started building a lighthouse in 1841, which was lit on November 1, 1843. Before the lighthouse was built, a Glacial erratic, the Glomstenen, was used by the fishermen for orientation.
A fishing harbor grew up around the lighthouse, which was first called Glummen, but which today goes by the name Glommen. Most of the buildings around the lighthouse were built in 1870-1871. The lighthouse was electrified in 1930 and became unmanned in 1962. It was renovated in 1975 when it received a surface layer of steel fiber concrete.
