Vasikat is a turf zone in the municipality (city) of Helsinki (Helsingfors) in the region of Etelä-Suomi (Southern Finland) in Finland. The zone is located in the province of Uusimaa.
Placement[edit]
This turf zone is located by the sculpture Aamulla / Vasikat (in English: In the morning / Calves) by the artist Miina Äkkijyrkkä, by the road "Pakilantie" outside S-market Maunula, in the district Maunula, about 7 kilometers (4,3 mi) north of Helsinki city center.
The name of the zone can be translated to "Calves".
Aamulla / In the morning[edit]
Miina Äkkijyrkkä's "In the Morning" depicts three calves. The sculpture is in bronze and is typical of Äkkijyrkkä's (born 1949) cow sculptures which are realist and based on detailed observations of cows and nature itself. The sculpture is also known by the name of "Fatlings".[1]
