Raasepori (Raseborg) is a Municipality (city) in the region of Etelä-Suomi (Southern Finland) in Finland. Raasepori has about 27 500 inhabitants and is located in the province of Uusimaa.
The large municipality of Raasepori was formed on 1 January 2009 through the merger of the three previously independent municipalities of Karis, Ekenäs and Pohja.
LocationEdit
Raasepori is located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland about 70 kilometers west of Helsinki and about 100 kilometers east of Turku. The city borders Hanko in the southwest, Kimitoön in the west, Salo in the north, Lohja in the northeast and Ingå in the east. In the south, Raasepori has a large archipelago, rich in bays and islands.
