Bayern is a region in southern Germany. The regionen encompasses the bundesland with same name and has about 13 miljon inhabitants. Bordering regions are Baden-Württemberg in the west, Hessen in the northwest, Thüringen in the north, Sachsen in the northeast, Czech Republic in the east and Austria in the south.
