Hessen is a region in the middle of Germany. The Region encompasses the bundesland with the same name and has about six million inhabitants. Bordering regions are Rheinland-Pfalz in the southwest, Nordrhein-Westfalen in the northwest, Niedersachsen in the north, Thüringen in the east, Bayern in the southeast and Baden-Württemberg in the south.
