Northern Ireland is one of twelve regions in the United Kingdom. The region includes the country / province / region with the same name and consists of the six counties of Fermanagh, Tyrone, Londonderry, Antrim, Down and Armagh and has about 1,9 million inhabitants.
The largest city is Belfast. Other major cities are Londonderry and Lisburn.
Adjacent region is Ireland in the south and west.
