Rhein-Sieg-Kreis is a municipality in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in Germany. The municipality has about 580,000 inhabitants and is located in the southwestern part of the region.

Rhein-Sieg-Kreis is an administrative district in southern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, belonging to the Regierungsbezirk Köln (Cologne).

Location

The Rhein-Sieg-Kreis almost completely surrounds the city of Bonn, which is not part of the district. Parts of the district are included in the Bergisches Land area.

Adjacent districts / municipalities are Kreis Euskirchen in the west, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Köln (Cologne) and Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis in the north and Oberbergischer Kreis in the east, all in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia), Altenkirchen, Neuwied and Ahrweiler in the south, in the region Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate).

Urban areas

The largest city is Troisdorf, while Siegburg is the administrative capital.

Other major cities are: Bad Honnef, Bornheim, Hennef (Sieg), Königswinter, Lohmar , Meckenheim, Niederkassel, Rheinbach and Sankt Augustin.

The most taken zone is Lessenicher located at the intersection Lessenicher Weg - Dransdorfer Strasse just outside Gielsdorf.
