Brandenburg is a region in northeastern Germany. The regionen encompasses the bundesland with the same name and has about 2,5 miljoner inhabitants.
The regionen Berlin is totally enclosed by Brandenburg and is therefore constituted as an enclave within Brandenburg.
Bordering regions are Sachsen (Saxony) in the south, Sachsen-Anhalt (Saxony-Anhalt) in the west, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the north and Poland in the east.
